At long last, the Grand Prize Winner for The Slamdance Trailer Competition presented by MixBit was awarded at the annual Closing Night Award Ceremony.
The winner of the award was the trailer for narrative feature standout Love Steaks, which can be seen in full right here:
The grand prize-winner was selected by MixBit co-founder Chad Hurley, who wrote us before the award ceremony to say that the trailer's daring artistic style, editing, and music made him want to see the feature film more than the rest of our amazing field of entrants. As a prize, the filmmakers of Love Steaks - Jakob Lass (writer/director), Ines Schiller (writer) and Golo Schultz (producer) - will receive a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.
The Trailer Competition was highly competitive, boasting 61 entries from all festival categories, representing over 60% of 2014's festival slate. Of these entries, ten were selected as finalists to be played before programming blocks during the festival. Of these ten, only one was selected to be the grand prize winner.
The Slamdance Trailer competition presented by MixBit opens new avenues for artistic collaboration and storytelling; each competition trailer is now available to be shared with other users on the MixBit platform. Love Steaks has already been remixed several times, including one dance remix.
We are looking forward to see how MixBit continues to develop, and are excited for more opportunities to make new connections with filmmakers on their platform.
